What Platelet-Rich Plasma Is
Blood is made up of red cells, white cells, platelets and plasma. Platelets carry a range of proteins that the body draws on as part of its ordinary repair processes. PRP concentrates those platelets so that more of them can be placed exactly where you want the work done.
How your plasma is prepared
A small sample of blood is drawn from your arm, in the same way as a routine blood test. The sample goes into a centrifuge, which spins it so the components separate by density. The platelet-rich layer is drawn off and prepared for use. The whole process happens in the room with you and takes a few minutes.
What the procedure involves
The concentrate is introduced into the skin or scalp through fine needles. On the face this is usually done with microneedling, which creates controlled micro-channels while the plasma is applied across the surface. On the scalp it is placed as a series of small injections across mapped sections. Topical numbing cream is applied first in both cases.
PRP Facial in Surbiton

PRP for Hair Loss in Surbiton

Consultations are free. Prices cover the consultation, the blood draw, preparation of the plasma and the treatment itself. There is no separate charge for numbing cream or for the aftercare products used on the day.
What to Expect from a PRP Session
Before your appointment
The consultation comes first and it is free. We go through your medical history, any medication you take and what you are hoping for, then assess whether PRP is suitable. Come to your treatment hydrated and having eaten, in the same way you would prepare for a blood test.
During the session
Allow 45 to 60 minutes. That covers the consultation, the blood draw, the few minutes the sample spends in the centrifuge, time for the numbing cream to work and the treatment itself. Most clients describe the needling as a series of quick scratches rather than a sharp pain. Tell your practitioner if you want to pause at any point.
Afterwards
Redness and mild swelling in the treated area are common on the day and usually settle within one to three days. Pinpoint bruising can happen, particularly under the eyes. Most people go back to their normal day straight away.
Aftercare
Keep the area clean and free of make-up for the rest of the treatment day. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming, strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours. Use SPF and keep the treated area out of strong sun while it settles.
