Treatment Summary
Treatment Length:
Radiofrequency Microneedling treatments are extremely quick, making them convenient for a busy schedule. You can expect your treatment to take no longer than 20-60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
Downtime:
Due to the minimally-invasive nature of the treatment, you may experience temporary reddening of the skin (erythema) which will often diminish within 1-4 hours following your treatment.
Visible Results:
Results can be seen immediately after a single treatment, for optimal results a course of 3 treatments is typically recommended with an annual maintenance treatment once per year to maintain results.
Duration of Results:
Results of microneedling last for around three to five months. The duration of your results will depend on how long new collagen lasts in your skin and the degree of your skin concerns.
Side Effects:
Microneedling can cause swelling, redness, and flakey skin, which can last for up to three days. Most people will be able to return to wearing makeup within 24 hours of treatment.
Side effects are temporary and will only appear around the treated area.

Pre-Treatment Preparation:
- Apply anti-viral cream if you are prone to cold sores.
- If you have active acne in the area of treatment, please reschedule your appointment.
- Stop using “active” skincare (e.g. AHA, BHA, Retinol (Vitamin A) at least 3 days prior to treatment.
- Avoid Direct sun exposure, sunbeds and self-tanning products for at least 3 days prior to treatment. If you are sunburnt, the procedure cannot take place for your safety.
- Excessive facial hair, beards and moustaches need to be clean shaven prior to day of treatment.

Whilst skinXcell utilises the latest RF and Microneedling technology, a mild discomfort can occur during treatment. To combat the discomfort, local ananesthetic can be applied, at your request.
Although there have been no proven side effects directly linked to pregnancy, we do not recommend microneedling treatments while pregnant.
Post-Treatment Care:
- Avoid exercise or strenuous activity that will cause sweating.
- Use SPF daily, a minimum factor 30
- Keep skin dry for 24 hours and avoid scratching the treated area.
- Avoid swimming for 24 hours
- Avoid extended time in direct sunlight for the first week following treatment. Avoid sunbeds during your course of treatment.
- Avoid active skincare products for 7 days following treatment.
- Do not apply salf-tan or have a spray tan for 2-3 weeks following your treatment.
