Our chamber is a hard shell hyperbaric chamber that runs at 1.5 ATA (atmospheres absolute). Most soft shell chambers, the inflatable type often found in spas and home setups, typically run at around 1.3 ATA. A hard shell chamber is built to hold a higher, stable pressure, and oxygen is delivered at up to 10 litres per minute during your session.

How much does hyperbaric oxygen therapy cost?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is not suitable for everyone. Whether it is appropriate for you is settled at consultation, which covers your history, any current medication and any ear or sinus problems, before anything is booked.

A standard session at our Surbiton clinic lasts one hour inside the chamber, plus a few minutes at each end while the pressure is raised and lowered. Allow around 90 minutes for your first visit, which includes your consultation.
A hyperbaric chamber raises the air pressure around you above normal atmospheric pressure while you breathe oxygen. Under pressure, more oxygen dissolves into the blood plasma than breathing air at sea level allows.
The most common effect is pressure in the ears or sinuses during the pressure changes, similar to taking off or landing in an aircraft. Some people feel tired afterwards. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is not suitable for everyone, which is why we require a consultation before starting a course.
Most people have two to three sessions a week, and courses are usually planned around 20 sessions. Your practitioner will recommend a schedule at your consultation.
